Introduction to Six Sigma
Today Six Sigma has become the global standard of quality business practice, embraced by the American Society for Quality. What was developed by Motorola in 1986 to help it achieve a manufacturing process of 3.4 Defects per million has today become a standard to strive for in various industries and is not limited to manufacturing only.
Six sigma follows a methodology for minimizing defects, errors and mistakes, seeking a level where 99.99966% of the products manufactured ( or processes for non manufacturing industries ) are defect free. Weather you look at six Sigma as a methodology, set of tools or philosophy, it can help you drastically reduce waste, variation and defects.
